I had been trying this module that attempted to filter out spam. While I wasn't looking it got a little aggressive and decided some of my own content was spam. There's probably some irony in that but being a bit miffed that software on my own site would consider content I wrote on my own site spam, I disabled the module. I've made the approximately 20 nodes (mostly fickr photo sets) visible again.
